The Tri Valley Trailblazers is a non profit recreational equestrian group with approximately 60 members primarily from the San Francisco East Bay area. The organization has been in existence since the late 1960's, when it was begun as a Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory employee club. The organization is now open to the public and has not been directly affiliated with LLNL since the early 1980's, although several original members still belong.
The Trailblazers meet monthly on the second Wednesday of each month, at the Livermore Farm Bureau. Monthly Club rides are scheduled, along with several weekend campouts during the year. Other events provided have been play days, safety clinics, participation in local parades, educational speakers and educational clinics. The Trailblazers host a Poker Ride, usually in October, to raise funds toward various local equestrian-related projects supporting parks and trails. The organization serves to stimulate interest in all matters that pertain to the use, enjoyment, care of or improvement of horses, safety and horsemanship, preservation of and enhancement of trails.
